Ceferin rules out FIFA presidency bid, predicts Infantino challenge

Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin has ruled himself out of challenging Gianni Infantino for the Fifa presidency, but believes the incumbent could face a rival at next year’s election. According to the BBC, Ceferin said he remains committed to his role at Uefa and wants to eventually enjoy life away from football’s political pressures.

However, he expects Infantino either to step aside after losing support within the football community or contest the March 2027 election against an unnamed challenger. Ceferin also strongly criticised Infantino’s abandoned Fifa Forward Enterprise proposal, describing it as worse than the European Super League.
