‘We did everything to save him’– Yayi mourns Ogogo
Ogun State APC governorship candidate Solomon Adeola has paid tribute to late Nollywood veteran Taiwo Hassan — Ogogo — revealing that he and his wife Temitope personally supported the actor’s medical treatment during his battle with stage-four cancer before his death on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at age 66.
In a tribute shared on Facebook on Monday, as reported by Vanguard, Adeola said: “During those difficult moments, we stood closely with him and his family, supporting his treatment and doing everything humanly possible to ensure that he received the necessary medical care.”
The governorship candidate, also known as Yayi, described Ogogo as a “dear brother” and proud son of Ilaro and Ogun West, whose decades-long Nollywood career entertained generations and contributed immensely to Nigeria’s film industry.
“Sadly, despite all efforts, it has pleased Almighty God to call him home,” Adeola stated.
