Iranian hackers target UK power plant, force shutdown

Share:

Iranian hackers shut down a British power plant for four days in what is believed to be the most successful cyber attack of its kind on UK infrastructure, The Telegraph reports. The attack, thought to be the first of its kind by Iran-affiliated hackers, coincided with similar strikes on US water infrastructure across 12 states last month.

Officials declined to name the affected plant but confirmed it was small-scale, with no impact on the wider power supply. The incident was reported to the National Cyber Security Centre amid growing warnings over Iran’s expanding cyber warfare capabilities against Western nations.
