Osun election: ADC raises alarm over Aregbesola arrest plot
The African Democratic Congress has raised alarm over an alleged plan to arrest its National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, ahead of Saturday’s Osun governorship election, according to Punch Newspapers. In a statement, National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi said the party received “credible reports” of the planned arrest, warning it could disrupt election activities.
Abdullahi noted established procedures exist for questioning Aregbesola, a former Osun governor and ex-Interior Minister, and warned an arrest now would suggest an attempt to prevent him from coordinating the party’s campaign. The ADC urged the Federal Government to avoid actions that could trigger political tension.
