Ogogo: What you probably didn’t know about stage 4 cancer
The death of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan — popularly known as Ogogo — from stage 4 cancer just weeks after diagnosis has renewed public interest in what an advanced cancer diagnosis means and whether it always signals imminent death.
As reported by Daily Trust, Hassan’s daughters Kira and Haleemah disclosed doctors diagnosed their father approximately three weeks before his passing. Kira announced the death during an Instagram Live session on Sunday.
Medical experts clarify that Stage 4 — where cancer has spread from its origin to distant body parts — does not carry a uniform prognosis. Treatment remains possible and can slow progression, relieve symptoms and extend life depending on cancer type, location, spread and the patient’s overall health. Some patients live for years with metastatic cancer.
Without details of Hassan’s specific cancer type, definitive conclusions about his individual condition remain medically inappropriate, experts note.
If you or someone you know is experiencing health concerns, please consult a qualified medical professional for guidance.
