Sowore’s party writes Tinubu, requests to use Aso Rock for campaign council inauguration
The African Action Congress (AAC) has formally requested President Bola Tinubu’s approval to use the Presidential Villa, Abuja, for the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Daily Post, the request was contained in an October 21 letter signed by the party’s National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena.
The party proposed November 11, 2026, for the ceremony and requested food, drinks and logistical support for participants.
AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore shared the letter on Wednesday.
The party argued that its request reflected multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment, citing similar arrangements reportedly extended to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
“We believe that granting this request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness, equal access, and the principle that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination,” the letter stated.
The AAC also requested information on approval procedures and conditions.
The Presidency had not responded to the request as of Wednesday.
