US lawmakers demand investigation into Musk over Ukraine Starlink slowdown
Lawmakers from both major political parties in the United States have called for an investigation into billionaire Elon Musk over allegations that he restricted Ukraine’s access to SpaceX’s Starlink satellite network.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the demands followed its investigation into Musk’s alleged decision to limit Starlink services used by Ukraine.
Republican Representative Brian Fitzpatrick urged Congress to summon Musk and other relevant witnesses to testify under oath.
“We got to investigate,” Fitzpatrick told CNN on Tuesday.
“We got to call the witnesses, got to bring them in, put them under oath and get to the bottom of it because this is a very, very serious matter.”
The controversy has raised questions among lawmakers about the role of private satellite communications providers in military operations.
Starlink has served as an important communications system for Ukraine during its war with Russia.
Lawmakers are seeking further scrutiny of the reported restrictions and their implications for Ukraine’s military communications.
