Cambridge Professor Jason Arday Cleared of Plagiarism Months After Death
Late Cambridge University professor Jason Arday has reportedly been cleared of plagiarism allegations, months after his death in London.
According to Peoples Gazette, scientific publisher Taylor & Francis investigated the academic’s research papers and found insufficient evidence to substantiate allegations of plagiarism or data fabrication.
Liverpool John Moores University also cleared Arday’s 2015 doctoral thesis, concluding that minor attribution errors were honest mistakes rather than deliberate misconduct.
Arday, Cambridge University’s youngest Black professor, died in August at 41 after being found unresponsive in a London apartment.
He had resigned on August 5 following Cambridge’s announcement of an investigation into his academic qualifications and honorary appointments.
His family alleged that he “was subjected to a campaign of sustained abuse for more than three years since he accepted the role of professor at Cambridge University by those who would leave no stone unturned in their quest to undermine him”.
Following his death, approximately 30,000 people signed a petition demanding an inquiry into media coverage surrounding the allegations.
