Michael Carrick given four-point plan to revive Man United’s struggling season
Michael Carrick has been urged to make significant tactical and personnel changes as Manchester United struggle to arrest their poor run of form ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Chelsea.
According to Sky Sports, United have gone eight consecutive games without a victory, raising fresh questions about Carrick’s ability to turn the team’s fortunes around.
The report identifies four key areas requiring attention, including abandoning an ineffective high press, restoring captain Bruno Fernandes to the starting line-up, giving younger players opportunities and ending the constant reshuffling of positions.
United’s pressing approach has produced limited rewards, with only 10 of their 52 high turnovers resulting in shots and none leading to goals. Harry Amass and Shea Lacey are among the youngsters who could provide fresh energy, while Fernandes remains crucial to the team’s creativity.
Carrick must now find a more balanced approach as United prepare for a difficult trip to Stamford Bridge.
