NANS demands investigation after five Gombe students die in Ijebu-Epe road crash
The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic deaths of five students from Gombe State in a road accident on the Ijebu–Epe Road.
According to The Nation, the deceased were traveling to Lagos in search of Industrial Training placements when their vehicle was involved in a crash with a GUO Logistics truck.
In a statement by NANS President Dist. Comr. Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, the association condemned the logistics firm’s inaction following the incident and issued a 72-hour deadline for full accountability and compensation.
”Consequently, we demand that GUO Logistics take full responsibility for this incident and ensure that the families are properly engaged and attended to,” Afeez stated. “We hereby give GUO Logistics 72 hours to take full responsibility, particularly by reaching out to all the bereaved families, providing the necessary support to them, and ensuring that the injured victims receive adequate medical attention.”
NANS also called for a comprehensive investigation to ensure those responsible face legal consequences.
