World Bank: AI can fast-track growth in developing countries
The World Bank says AI could help developing countries achieve in a decade what might otherwise take a century, if governments address infrastructure and skills gaps. Its World Development Report 2026 found only 4.5% of jobs in low- and middle-income countries face automation risk, versus 14.2% in high-income nations. Chief Economist Indermit Gill urged developing economies to adopt low-cost AI tools for healthcare, education and agriculture.
