UEFA gives Infantino two weeks to release FIFA governance documents

UEFA has given FIFA president Gianni Infantino until November 2 to release key documents and answer 42 questions concerning the organisation’s governance and decision-making. According to BBC Sport, UEFA general secretary Theodore Theodoridis sent an eight-page letter accusing FIFA of failing to address “a number of fundamental questions”.

The questions cover FIFA’s abandoned Forward Enterprise (FFE) private investment plan, the FIFA Peace Prize awarded to US president Donald Trump, and the controversial suspension of USA striker Folarin Balogun’s World Cup ban. UEFA also requested clarification over reports of additional payments to Infantino, FIFA’s financial arrangements involving Trump’s associates, and funding for member associations.

The letter stated: “These questions require answers now. They cannot be deferred until the next meeting of the FIFA Council.” Infantino apologised for the FFE proposal at Thursday’s FIFA Council meeting but did not fully explain how it was developed. FIFA has been approached for comment, while UEFA has not specified what action it would take if the deadline is missed.
