Gianni Infantino accused of ‘abuse of power’ over VIP Airport perks for family

Share:

FIFA President Gianni Infantino faces new scrutiny after internal airport logs revealed his family received VIP treatment at Miami International Airport more than 100 times since January 2024, according to a report by Inside World Football.

The perks, typically reserved for senior diplomats, were requested even when Infantino was not traveling. Multiple protocol experts cited the actions as an “abuse of power.”

Responding to the allegations, a FIFA spokesperson stated: “Port Courtesy requests were made to Miami International Airport (MIA), on the advice of a former advisor to the FIFA President.

Port Courtesies are provided at no charge to the President of FIFA given his position as the Head of an Association or NGO.

Mr Infantino’s family members are also entitled to request these services under MIA’s own ‘Courtesies of Port Handbook’ and these are also provided free of any charge, on a case-by-case basis, at the discretion of MIA.”
