Peter Obi breaks silence on wife’s alleged ₦250m Hermès bag
“My wife has her own business and her own money, so what is my business if she buys expensive items with her money?
Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, has defended his wife, Margaret, following controversy over her alleged ₦250 million Hermès bag.
Speaking during an interview in Washington, DC, as reported by Daily Post, Obi said his wife has her own business and money, insisting he has no control over how she spends her earnings.
The former Anambra State governor said he does not know the prices of the bags and shoes she wears, adding that she was previously “more sophisticated.” Obi also recalled that he did not establish an office for the First Lady while serving as governor, saying his wife’s lifestyle does not affect his management of public funds.
